How these calculators work
Each tool uses the same arithmetic a contractor does on a notepad: measure the area or volume, convert it to the unit the material is sold in, then add a waste allowance for cuts, spills, and uneven ground. The defaults match common product sizes sold at U.S. home centers, and you can change any of them. Prices are optional; enter what your local store charges and the calculator totals it for you.
